These two tennis players might give Nadal and Djokovic a hard time

The first week of Wimbledon is over, and we can pretty much start laying down who has a claim to the title or not. It seems that, as usual, only Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are serious title contenders in London. As expected, the two men are making a solid impression and seem unbeatable.

But two players are have hugely impressed during the first week at Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios and Jannik Sinner. Kyrgios made short work of Stefanos Tsitsipas in a world class match last Saturday night. He seems to be in the form of his life and only hit 'one underhand serve'. Will the big talent finally show what everyone knows he can do? Will he finally play seriously?

'King Kyrgios' makes impression

It looks like it. Between points, there was the usual drama, but that's part of Kyrgios. It's his concentration. Creating drama with the umpire, for whatever reason seems to 'calm' him down. The 27-year-old Australian had great services, an equally good baseline game and he made the right decisions. To beat the number five in the world like that is impressive, very impressive.

And Kyrgios has laid out the red carpet for himself by beating Tsitsipas so early. In the fourth round he faced and defeated Brandon Nakashima, and is now set to face Cristian Garin in the quarter final, another player Kyrgios should be able to beat in this form. If he does, then in the semifinals, Nadal likely awaits. And though the reigning Australian Open and Roland Garros champion might be The King of Clay, on grass he does not seem unbeatable for Kyrgios.

Sinner in blood form

On the other side of the schedule Sinner will take on Novak Djokovic. The Italian is in great form and before facing Carlos Alcaraz was already playing some very good tennis. Against Alcaraz however, Sinner showed that he is of good form this year at Wimbledon. With his strong play on the baseline and his powerful strokes, we expect Djokovic to have to do his best. Perhaps more than that, his very best. Can Sinner finally show that he can also win against Djokovic or Nadal?

If Sinner beats Djokovic, he will have to face either Cameron Norrie or David Goffin in the semifinals. Players he should be able to beat as well. Although Norrie has been playing better and better over the last twelve months, he did not have a strong run-up to Wimbledon. He does have the support of his own crowd and can therefore surprise more. But a Sinner in form, as he demonstrated against Alcaraz, is a tough match for Djokovic, and (normally) mission impossible for Norrie or Goffin.

Nice odds for Sinner against Djokovic

The bookies have also noticed Kyrgios and Sinner's strong performances. They are the favourites behind Nadal and Djokovic for the final victory. A final victory for Kyrgios has been awarded a quote of 10.00, the same result for Sinner has a quote of 19.00. Do you think Sinner will win over Djokovic in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon on Tuesday? Then you can get 6.50 times your bet back If so, you'll be able to bet. Bettors who like certainty would not be unwise to bet on Sinner winning one set against Djokovic: 2.00 times your bet. Perhaps two sets are not unrealistic either: 3.75 times your bet!
