Once again Antony scores a failing grade and disappoints fans

In his first weeks at Manchester United, Antony has had mixed success. The Brazilian set a record by becoming the first Manchester United player ever to score in his first three Premier League games. Despite this record, the winger has been widely criticised and Antony received a failing grade after his mediocre performance in Thursday night's Europa League match.

Manchester United played that fourth group game in the Europa League on Thursday night, at home against Omonia Nicosia. Not an opponent to worry about when you can field a front line consisting of Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo and Antony. Yet 'The Mancunians' failed to score within the 90 minutes, despite a flood of chances. They fired at the Cypriotic goal over 30 times, but the sharpness was not there. Until Erik ten Hag made some changes and brought in Scott McTominay, among others. Not a player you would expect to score the winning goal, but the midfielder ended up doing just that, finding a hole in Omonia's defence and scoring the winning goal in the 92nd minute.

After an hour of play, signings Antony and Tyrell Malacia were substituted. Both players experienced a mediocre evening and that will disappoint the fans somewhat. When you are signed for almost a hundred million euros, expectations are high and so far Antony has not lived up to them. He did score three goals in the Premier League, but in terms of football the agile winger has been rather disappointing. It looks very static and very predictable. The fans also showed Thursday night that they expect more from Antony by regularly whistling at him after failed actions or wrong passes. The report grade for the game with Omonia Nicosia was not without reason. Antony received a 5, as did former Ajax player Lisandro Martinez. Ten Hag received a 7 and was praised for his good substitutions.

Can Antony score for the fourth time in a row?

Next Sunday United the difficult game against Newcastle United awaits. It is a meeting between the numbers five and six of the league table and the stake is to keep in trail of the top four, a position that would grant a place in next year's Champions League. If Antony manages to score for the fourth time in a row a very nice odd of as much as 3.25 awaits!
